Job Summary

Position: MEAL Officer
Organization: Oxfam Nigeria
Location: Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, Nigeria
Employment Type: Fixed-Term Contract
Duration: 12 Months (Renewable Based on Performance and Funding)

Work Schedule: Full-Time (40 Hours Per Week)
Reports To: Consortium Project Manager
Salary: Annual Gross Salary of approximately ₦8,016,695

The successful candidate will support the implementation of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) activities for an EU-funded agricultural and livelihoods project in Kebbi State. The role is designed to ensure quality data collection, analysis, reporting, and learning processes that contribute to evidence-based decision-making and project success.


About the Role

The MEAL Officer will play a critical role in strengthening project accountability, improving program quality, and ensuring that project activities achieve measurable results.

Working closely with government agencies, civil society organizations, private sector stakeholders, and research institutions, the officer will support monitoring systems, data management, beneficiary feedback mechanisms, and organizational learning initiatives. The position is ideal for professionals who enjoy combining fieldwork, data analysis, and strategic program support.


Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

1. Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Supporting the development and implementation of project monitoring frameworks.
  • Collecting, managing, and analyzing project data.
  • Ensuring data quality and accuracy across project activities.
  • Monitoring progress against project indicators and targets.

2. Accountability Systems

  • Establishing and strengthening complaints and response mechanisms.
  • Tracking beneficiary feedback and ensuring timely responses.
  • Supporting transparency and accountability within project operations.

3. Learning and Knowledge Management

  • Organizing learning events and reflection sessions.
  • Documenting lessons learned and best practices.
  • Promoting evidence-based decision-making among project teams and partners.

4. Partner Support

  • Reviewing partner reports and ensuring compliance with Oxfam standards.
  • Supporting partner capacity development on monitoring and evaluation systems.
  • Developing reporting templates and monitoring tools.

5. Data Management

  • Managing databases and information systems.
  • Producing reports that inform management decisions.
  • Supporting project evaluations and assessments.


Qualifications and Requirements

To be eligible for this position, applicants should possess:

Educational Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in any of the following or related disciplines:

  • Statistics
  • Economics
  • Business Administration
  • Development Studies
  • Social Sciences
  • Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Other relevant fields

Professional Experience

Candidates should have:

  • At least four years of practical experience in monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning.
  • Experience working with donor-funded projects.
  • Knowledge of project management and reporting systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with NGO partners and stakeholders.


Technical Skills Required
