About Saifuro

Saifuro develops payment infrastructure designed to help artificial intelligence agents make transactions within limits approved by human operators.

The company's technology checks whether a proposed payment complies with previously approved spending rules. It then provides a signed decision that the receiving system can verify. Saifuro also develops escrow infrastructure for transactions between agents, with on-chain settlement using USDC.

One important part of this system is the ability to hold funds securely until the agreed conditions for a transaction have been satisfied. Smart contracts must enforce these rules correctly, prevent unauthorised access, and provide reliable mechanisms for releasing or refunding funds.

Saifuro's engineering team is therefore focused on building blockchain infrastructure that can support automated transactions while maintaining security, transparency, and clear control over funds.

About the Smart Contract Engineer Role

The successful candidate will own the Ethereum-compatible blockchain side of Saifuro's escrow and verification systems. This includes designing and implementing Solidity contracts, developing automated tests, preparing deployments, coordinating external security audits, and responding to audit findings.

A central responsibility is building an escrow system on Base. The system must allow funds to be deposited and released when a valid signed decision confirms that the required conditions have been met. It must also support refunds where appropriate and prevent Saifuro itself from arbitrarily moving funds belonging to the parties involved.

The engineer will also develop contracts that verify signed decisions before transactions can proceed. These checks must validate the signature and relevant conditions, including the intended recipient or audience and the decision's expiry.

This is a hands-on engineering position for someone who can independently write, test, review, and deploy production smart contracts.

Key Responsibilities

1. Smart Contract Development

  • Design, implement, test, and maintain Solidity smart contracts for Saifuro's escrow system on Base.
  • Develop secure mechanisms for depositing funds, releasing payments, and processing refunds.
  • Ensure that contract logic follows the agreed transaction rules and protects the funds of buyers and sellers.
  • Write maintainable code with clear assumptions and predictable behaviour.
  • Take ownership of the EVM-side implementation from design through production deployment.

2. On-Chain Signature Verification

  • Build and maintain contracts that verify signed transaction decisions.
  • Validate signatures, intended audiences, expiry conditions, and other relevant transaction requirements.
  • Prevent unauthorised or invalid decisions from triggering the movement of funds.
  • Collaborate with the CTO, who oversees the signing system and reviews smart contract code.
  • Ensure that verification logic behaves correctly across expected and unexpected scenarios.

3. Smart Contract Security

  • Identify and address vulnerabilities before contracts are deployed to mainnet.
  • Prepare contracts for independent external security audits before mainnet releases.
  • Coordinate audit scopes, respond to findings, and implement required fixes.
  • Develop deployment scripts, emergency pause controls, and recovery procedures.
  • Follow secure development practices to reduce risks involving unauthorised access, reentrancy, signature verification, and incorrect contract state transitions.

4. Testing and Deployment

  • Create comprehensive automated tests for normal operations, edge cases, and failure scenarios.
  • Verify that funds can be released or refunded only when the relevant conditions are satisfied.
  • Develop and maintain deployment procedures and supporting documentation.
  • Support controlled production releases and investigate problems that arise after deployment.
  • Help ensure that smart contracts behave consistently and reliably in production.

5. Future Blockchain Development

  • Contribute to future milestone-based and multi-party escrow capabilities as the product develops.
  • Help extend the smart contract system to additional EVM-compatible networks.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to maintain consistent transaction behaviour across supported blockchains.

Eligibility Requirements

Saifuro identifies two core requirements for this position:

  • Production Solidity experience: Applicants must have successfully deployed Solidity smart contracts to a mainnet.
  • Eligible country of residence: Applicants must live in a country where Saifuro can legally or operationally hire.

The employer states that candidates with relevant experience may be considered even if their previous job titles differ. Experience gained through personal projects, open-source contributions, and hackathons can also be relevant, provided the candidate can demonstrate the necessary skills and production-level experience.

Because the role involves contracts that control escrowed funds, applicants should be prepared to demonstrate their understanding of smart contract security, testing, deployment, and production maintenance.

Additional Skills That May Be an Advantage

The following skills are helpful but are not listed as mandatory requirements for every candidate:

  • Understanding EVM storage layout and low-level execution behaviour.
  • Experience preventing and analysing reentrancy vulnerabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of cryptographic signature verification.
  • Experience writing Rust or developing Solana programs using Anchor.
  • Familiarity with account abstraction, ERC-4337, and session keys for AI agents.
  • Knowledge of USDC smart contracts and Circle's Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP).
  • Experience conducting security research or discovering vulnerabilities through bug bounty programmes.
  • Open-source blockchain development or security contributions.

Candidates should highlight relevant repositories, deployed contracts, technical write-ups, or other projects that demonstrate their engineering capabilities.

Salary and Benefits

Saifuro advertises a US salary range of $170,000–$220,000 per year for this position. For employees outside the United States, the company says compensation is paid in USD, or USDC if preferred, and adjusted against the top of the local market. The US salary range should not be assumed to apply unchanged to every country.

The advertised compensation and benefits include:

  • Equity: 0.30% equity in Saifuro, subject to vesting conditions.
  • Health coverage: Medical, dental, and vision premiums for US employees, with dependent coverage subject to the stated plan. Outside the US, the company describes local coverage through an employer of record or a $300 monthly contribution toward private insurance.
  • Paid vacation: 25 days of paid vacation in addition to public holidays.
  • Company holiday closure: The company closes between Christmas and New Year.
  • Parental leave: 14 weeks of paid parental leave for any parent.
  • Remote-work support: A company laptop and $1,000 toward a workspace.
  • Learning budget: $1,500 annually for professional development, including conferences.
  • Industry events: The company advertises six to eight work-related events annually.
  • Flexible hours: Flexible scheduling, with an expected team overlap from 14:00 to 17:00 UTC.

Applicants should confirm the applicable compensation, equity terms, benefits, and employment arrangements directly with Saifuro before accepting an offer.

Remote Work and Country Eligibility

This is a fully remote position, but remote work does not mean the vacancy is available in every country. Saifuro publishes a specific list of countries where it can hire.

Important for Nigerian applicants: Nigeria is not included in Saifuro's current published list of eligible countries. South Africa and Mauritius are among the African countries listed, alongside countries in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.

If you live in Nigeria, contact Saifuro before preparing a full application to ask whether its hiring eligibility has changed or whether an alternative arrangement is possible. Do not provide a different country of residence unless you genuinely reside there and meet the employer's requirements.

The expected team overlap is 14:00–17:00 UTC. Nigeria's time zone is UTC+1, so this corresponds to 15:00–18:00 in Nigeria. The company notes that the overlap window is not the entire working day, although occasional production incidents may require attention outside normal hours.

How to Apply

Qualified candidates should apply by email using the instructions provided on Saifuro's official careers page.

Prepare the following materials:

  • An updated CV or résumé highlighting Solidity development and mainnet deployment experience.
  • A link to your GitHub profile or relevant code repositories.
  • A link to your LinkedIn profile.
  • Links to your X profile or personal website, if available.
  • Your current country of residence.
