Terre des hommes (Tdh) is recruiting a Logistics Coordinator – Nigeria to lead and coordinate logistics operations across its Nigeria delegation. The position is based in Maiduguri, Borno State, with regular travel to field locations.
The role offers an opportunity for an experienced logistics professional to support humanitarian and development programmes while ensuring efficient, safe and compliant management of supply chain, fleet, equipment, premises, IT and other logistics functions.

About Terre des hommes
Terre des hommes (Tdh) is an independent, neutral and impartial Swiss organization founded in 1960. The organization works to improve the lives of children and young people, particularly those exposed to difficult and vulnerable circumstances.
Its areas of intervention include maternal and child health, migration, access to justice, education, WASH and child protection.
Tdh has operated in Nigeria since 2008 and established its operational base in Maiduguri in 2017. The organization currently works across Borno, Benue, Nasarawa, Ondo and Cross River States, delivering humanitarian and development programmes.
Its work includes child protection, health, education, WASH, migration and access to justice. Tdh also implements a Child Rights in Business programme focused on preventing and addressing child labour in cocoa-producing communities.
Key Responsibilities
The Logistics Coordinator will work under the responsibility of the Country Director and will be responsible for ensuring strong logistics performance across the Nigeria delegation.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Logistics Strategy
The successful candidate will design and implement the organization's national logistics strategy and ensure that logistics systems support programme delivery effectively.
The coordinator will also provide logistics support throughout the project cycle, including project development, implementation and reporting.
2. Logistics Systems and Procedures
The role involves implementing and ensuring compliance with Tdh's logistics framework covering areas such as:
- Procurement and supply
- Fleet management
- Equipment
- Stock management
- Premises
- Information technology
- Other logistics functions
The coordinator will also establish appropriate internal controls to ensure that Tdh resources and assets are used properly and efficiently.
3. Field Base Support
The Logistics Coordinator will provide technical support to Tdh's field bases and promote harmonized logistics practices across the delegation.
This includes monitoring logistics activities and ensuring that field teams follow established procedures and standards.
4. Staff Training and Capacity Building
The successful candidate will strengthen the logistics knowledge and capacity of Tdh staff and external partners through induction, briefings and training.
The role therefore requires someone who can not only manage logistics systems but also effectively coach and support other team members.
5. Security and Risk Management
Because Tdh operates in humanitarian environments, including areas affected by insecurity, security is an important part of the position.
Working with the Country Director and/or Security Advisor, the Logistics Coordinator will contribute to the operational security strategy and help ensure compliance with security standard operating procedures.
The candidate will also be expected to promote a strong security culture across the organization.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A Master's degree in Logistics, Transport, Administration or another relevant field.
- At least 5 years of proven logistics experience within an international NGO.
- Experience working in an emergency or unstable security environment.
- Strong knowledge of logistics procedures.
- Experience with donor procedures, including ECHO, SDC, CDCS and UNICEF.
- Experience managing teams.
- Experience in training and capacity building is desirable.
- Strong knowledge of standard IT tools.
- Fluency in English and relevant local languages.
- French language skills are an advantage.
Candidates should also be prepared to travel regularly to field locations and work in challenging humanitarian environments.
Salary and Benefits
Terre des hommes offers a Swiss contract with the following stated conditions:
- Gross monthly salary: CHF 5,000–CHF 5,800 × 13
- Contract duration: 36 months
- Health, accident and repatriation insurance
- 25 days of annual leave per year
- Flights to and from the duty station
- 3 R&R periods per year
- Shared accommodation
